Viruses spread more quickly in winter: Get Boosted

Vaccinations are your best protection against covid-19 and flu, which spread more quickly in winter, and can both cause serious illness.

Protection provided by covid-19 vaccines decreases over time, so if you are over 50, in an at-risk group or pregnant, boost your immunity this winter.

Because flu viruses can change every year, many adults and children can get a free flu vaccine.

Who can get flu and covid vaccinations?

Here is every group who can get a covid-19 booster or free NHS flu jab this winter.

Book Online or through 119

Please remember that our GP practices are not administering covid vaccinations.

Jabs can be booked online or by calling 119 if you need help.

We ask patients to please not call GP practices about covid vaccinations, as the additional calls make it difficult for other patients to get through.

Flu jab online booking trial

A pilot scheme allows some people to book a flu jab via the same online system as covid jabs.

Some test sites will offer covid and flu jabs simultaneously, but in other cases, it may be necessary to book two appointments.

Please remember this is a pilot scheme, and not everyone will be given the option to book a flu vaccine at the same time as their covid vaccine.

If you are not given this option, don’t worry, you will be contacted by your GP practice when you can get your flu shot. Around 33 million people are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine this year, beginning with the most clinically vulnerable.
