We Are Open

This year, the August Bank Holiday falls a little earlier – Monday 25th August.

The Grove Medical Group will be closed from the end of the day on Friday 22nd August until the morning of Tuesday 26th August.

Order Prescriptions Early

The most important thing this Bank holiday? Order prescriptions early – it’s quick and easy with the NHS App.

We usually recommend giving it at least three full working days from the time you request your prescription to when it’s ready to collect.

But during busy times like bank holidays, it’s best to order as early as you can to avoid delays – especially if you might be away.

With the NHS App, you can send your request at any time – even when we’re closed. It only takes a few taps, so it’s quick and convenient. Don’t leave it too late!

  • Open the NHS App and make sure you are logged in.
  • Tap ‘Repeat Prescriptions‘ in the centre of the homepage
  • You can view or change your nominated pharmacy.
  • Tap the green ‘Continue’ button.
  • You can view your medicines and select any you would like to request.
  • Tap the green ‘Continue’ button.
  • Check you are happy with the details, and tap the green ‘Request prescription’ button
  • You can see what to do next and view the status of your requests.

Pharmacy Opening Times

Some community pharmacists will be open over the Bank Holiday weekend.

If you have reordered a prescription through the NHS App, you can generate a bar code to collect your medication from any Pharmacy.

This is ideal if you didn’t get around to collecting it from your normal Pharmacy or if you are away visiting friends or family.

  • Open the NHS App and make sure you are logged in.
  • On the home page, select View and manage prescriptions
  • Select Your confirmed prescriptions
  • Select View Prescription
  • Click Prescription barcode

Getting Help while we’re closed

If you need medical help over the Bank Holiday weekend, the Pharmacy First scheme, NHS 111 and Urgent Treatment Centres are all available.

Pharmacies can now help you with more common conditions than ever before, including medication without a prescription or needing to see a GP first.

Here’s what you get help with:

  • Earache/ear infections (aged 1-17)
  • Impetigo/skin infections (1 year +)
  • Infected insect bites (1 year +)
  • Shingles (Aged 18+)
  • Sinusitis (Aged 12+)
  • Sore throats (5 years +)
  • Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections, or UTIs (Women aged 16-64)

Over 10,000 pharmacies – 95% of all those in England – have signed up.

Remember, you don’t need an appointment. You can visit any Pharmacy, and they are often open when we are closed, especially over Bank Holidays and weekends.
