Learning Disability Week 16–22 June 2025: Do You See Me?
This week is Learning Disability Week. The theme is “Do You See Me?” It’s about helping people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Why this week matters
People with learning disabilities often feel left out. They can find it hard to get the care and support they need.
- Most want to work, but many don’t get the chance.
- They may miss out on health checks or support.
- People sometimes speak for them instead of with them.
This week is about changing that. We want people to feel included and respected.
What we’re doing to help
We support people with learning disabilities in many ways:
- We offer yearly health checks to spot problems early.
- We offer longer appointments if extra time helps.
- We can offer quiet spaces if the waiting room feels too busy.
- You can bring a carer or family member with you.
- We try to offer the same doctor or nurse when possible.
These small changes are called reasonable adjustments. You can ask for them at any time. Fill in our form to let us know what can help you.
Extra support from our team
We work with two Community Link Workers, Andrea and Erin. They help patients aged 16 and over who have a learning disability.
They can:
- Help you feel ready for GP or hospital visits.
- Connect you with clubs, groups, or work support.
- Talk with you about your goals and help you reach them.
Ask a member of our team if you’d like a referral.
What you can do
- Talk about Learning Disability Week.
- Share stories and raise awareness.
- Use the hashtags #LearningDisabilityWeek and #DoYouSeeMe online.
- Ask us if you or someone you care for needs extra help.
Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and included.
Please speak to us if you’d like support or want to book a health check.
