Book a Cervical Screening Appointment
Booking your cervical screening is simple – and it could save your life.
Here’s how to do it:
✅ Step 1: Check if you’re due
If you’re aged 25 to 64 and have a cervix, you’ll usually be invited for cervical screening every 3 to 5 years.
Not sure if you’re due? You can:
- Check the NHS App or your most recent screening letter
 - Call us to ask

📞 Step 2: Contact your GP practice
You can book your cervical screening by:
- Calling us on 0191 213 2778.
 - Asking in person at reception. We are open 8:00 am to 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
 - Book online using the link sent to you in a text message

Let the team know it’s for cervical screening – they’ll guide you through it.
🙋♀️ Step 3: Let us know if you have any questions or concerns
It’s absolutely fine to feel nervous, unsure, or have questions. You can:
- Ask to speak to a nurse before your appointment. You might be able to come for a pre-appointment visit.
 - Request extra time if you’re anxious or need support
 - Talk to someone in private – we’re here to listen
 - Evening or weekend appointments might be possible through our Primary Care Network team

🛠️ We can offer adjustments to help
Everyone’s needs are different. Let us know if you’d like:
- A female nurse (screening is usually done by a trained female nurse)
 - A longer appointment or quiet time of day
 - Support with access or communication
 - Someone to talk you through the process beforehand
 - A friend or family member to come with you

We’ll do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and in control.
🔒 Your privacy matters
Cervical screening is done in a private room, with dignity and care. You can:
- Ask questions at any time
 - Bring someone with you, if it helps
 - Stop or pause the test whenever you need to
