Hepatitis C is a virus that affects your liver. It can be cured by taking a course of tablets. Lots of people have hepatitis C without knowing. Even if you do not know you have it, it can damage your liver and can sometimes lead to life-threatening conditions like liver cancer or liver failure.

Following the recent information in the media in relation to the NHS infected blood Inquiry there has been a rise in queries in relation to Hepatitis C testing. If you think you might have had a blood transfusion in the 1970s, 80 or 90s and have any concerns about your health, you can request a free NHS hepatitis C in England test at Home – HepC (hepctest.nhs.uk) .
