Important Update on Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) Prescribing

From 23rd June 2025, GPs in England will be able to prescribe Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) on the NHS for a small group of patients who meet strict national criteria. These rules have been set by NHS England to make sure those with the most medical need are prioritised.

Who may be eligible?

To be considered for Mounjaro on the NHS, you must be an adult and meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have a BMI of 40 or more
  • Have at least 4 out of the following 5 health conditions:
    • Type 2 Diabetes
    • High blood pressure (Hypertension)
    • High cholesterol (Dyslipidaemia)
    • Cardiovascular disease (e.g. heart disease)
    • Obstructive sleep apnoea

What happens next?

Our practice is currently reviewing records to identify patients who meet these criteria. Because the requirements are so specific, very few people are likely to be eligible.

If you are eligible, we will contact you directly.
Please do not contact the practice about Mounjaro at this time—we appreciate your patience while we carry out this process.
